Audience: Neurosurgical, intensivist and other healthcare professionals [Posted 02/15/2006] Bayer and FDA notified healthcare professionals of changes to the prescribing information for nimodipine (Nimotop), including a boxed warning to notify prescribers about medication administration errors with nimodipine. Nimodipine is approved for oral administration to improve neurological outcome after subarachnoid hemorrhage. When administered intravenously or parenterally, it can cause serious adverse events, including death. Nimodipine must not be administered intravenously |
