Sermon Points We are probably familiar with the Purpose Driven Life – a good summary of Christian discipleship
But we are probably less familiar with the Spirit-filled life
God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit God’s Spirit is a person who is identifiable from the beginning of Creation He plays a key role in empowering people, even in the Old Testament (Numbers 11:23-30)
God’s Spirit is given to believers so that Jesus may be followed (John 16:12-15)
There is no Christian who names the name of Jesus who has not been led to that place by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-6)

God’s plan from the beginning was to have a Spirit filled people (Joel 2;23-29) The foundation experience for the Church was the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) The danger in a materialistic world is to try to live by our own power, leading to disappointment for Christians The miracle is that the Lord wants to live in us (John 14:14-17)
What should that mean for us? Having God’s eyes, God’s heart, God’s hands
Waiting on the Spirit, waiting for God to act

Myth of our day is the idea of being fully integrated people Reality is that all of us have two parts
Non-Christians, while they do not have the Holy Spirit the way believers do, still are made in the image of God and can be influenced by God’s Spirit or led by their own evil desires
King Saul exhibits dual natures (1 Samuel 19:19-24)
Christians likewise have two natures The old nature, the flesh, the old self The new nature, the Spirit, the new self
Each nature is tied to producing different typ |
